Ozone Bowls
This series of handmade, soda fired, ceramic bowls are made using a variety of different clay bodies creating a variety of different colors and effects in the firing. Each bowl is only glazed through the natural atmosphere of the soda firing so their surfaces range from exhibiting a light sheen to a deep gloss and some have bright orange flashing from the flame. The only acceptors are 0 Blue Skies which is glazed on the exterior and uses cobalt to highlight the carvings as well as II Stained skies which used stains to create additional colors. Each bowl was made by use of a press mold with original carved designs, and then had a clay of a different color inlayed into the grooves of the carving, creating a contrast. The bowl 0 Blue Skies has some small cracks at its center from it’s removal from the mold as it was the positive from which the mold was made. These cracks are merely cosmetic. These bowl are roughly 9 3/4 in. by 3 1/4 in. by 9 3/4 in. and each is a one of a kind, unique piece.

In order to be environmentally conscious, even in small ways, and to promote recycling, I reuse shipping boxes collect from friends and family for the shipping of my products. Therefore, the boxes I use may have the names and labels of other businesses on them. I am not promoting or advertising these companies, only reusing the boxes.
